Dipropyl sulfide induces phase II enzymes, increasing levels of glutathione-S-transferase in vitro. Dipropyl sulfide also decreases N-nitrosamine-induced DNA damage in vitro and suppresses benzo[a]pyrene-induced carcinogenesis in vivo.
