Alsterpaullone inhibits cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), inducing G2/M phase cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in leukemia cells. Additionally, alsterpaullone inhibits glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK-3), inducing Wnt signaling; in ticks, this results in anti-fertility potential, decreasing egg hatching activity. Alsterpaullone also inhibits HIV-1 replication and proliferation.
