Mitomycin C increases heart allograft transplant survival rates by decreasing activation of CD4+ T cells and lymph nodes and increasing the number of circulating Treg cells. Mitomycin C inhibits thioredoxin reductase and induces DNA cross-linking at CpG sequences.
